Real authority doesn’t demand a throne, an iron fist, or isolation in an ivory tower. Jesus proved that when He grabbed a towel and washed feet that should’ve been washing His (John 13:1-17). The King of The Universe knelt. That’s the model. If He didn’t consider leadership beneath serving, neither should you.
The world’s version of leadership is command and control—crack the whip, punish weakness, demand results. Jesus flipped it: “Whoever desires to be first among you shall be slave of all” (Mark 10:44). Paul, a grown man, an apostle, said he made himself “a servant to all” to win people, not control them (1 Corinthians 9:19). That’s not weakness. That’s strength under submission to God and His higher purpose.
At work, this means you don’t just assign tasks—you equip others to succeed at them. Give your team the training, support, tools, and the clarity they need before you ever expect performance. When someone’s struggling, coach them instead of writing them off. Ask, “What do you need from me to win here?” Peter told leaders to shepherd “not by constraint… nor as being lords” but as examples (1 Peter 5:2-3). Be the guy who makes everyone around you better, not the guy who makes everyone around you nervous.
At home, it’s the same posture, different uniform. Your wife doesn’t need a manager—she needs a man who empowers her gifts and speaks life into her. Your kids don’t need a drill sergeant—they need a father who teaches, corrects with patience, and builds their confidence through consistent presence. Ask your son what he’s struggling with instead of just what he did wrong. Pray over your family daily. Lift them up with your words, please the Blood of Jesus over them for protection, interceded and call upon the Holy Spirit to guide them and protect them. Let your words exalt them, not diminish them.
Christ didn’t rule from a distance. He came close, knelt down, and served. He lead the way and did it with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (Galatians 5:22–23)
Lead your home and your work place the same way—strength wrapped in humility, authority proven through love.
