A Man That Walks The Walk

Over the past 20 plus years as a professional photographer, I’ve had the creative pleasure of photographing hundreds, maybe thousands of beautiful women. Not many guys though, not many at all.

Most of the men I’ve worked with were professional fighters, some were professional bodybuilders, and a very, very few that fell into the “others” category. No special reason for it, just the path my career took.

A few weeks ago an old acquaintance from way back got in touch with me and asked if I would be interested in doing a shoot with him. His name is Fred Krause. Despite being retired, I’m busier than a one-legged guy in a butt kicking contest so my first thought was to decline. But Fred is a guy I have a lot of respect for, and he is very interesting. I view time spent with Fred as time invested in personal and spiritual growth and if we could have a few laughs and I could make a couple of bucks shooting some pictures I loved then why not. I agreed and made the trip to southern California a week or so ago to do the shoot.

Among other things, Fred is a Chaplain for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and he works with their tactical response unit. He is that much-needed beacon of light and spiritual strength and support for some of the baddest operators in law enforcement. As a former S.W.A.T. cop, I understand the intense need for a man like Fred. The passion and commitment he brings to that heavy responsibility is inspiring. He approaches his family life and fatherhood with the same integrity and zeal just as he does his athletic endeavors and his business, Pure Performance Nutrition.

Fred walks the walk, in every aspect of his life, and I wanted to take pictures of that. He is getting ready for a bodybuilding contest at an age when most men are just hoping to avoid having a heart attack. And I think you will agree he looks incredible.

Thank you Fred for the call, for your service, and for all you do.
