Crystal Ellis is the biological mother of our foster son Jesse (Kwamane). She was born into the gang life and actively lived it until a couple years ago when she made the decision to choose a different path for herself and her son. She has since turned her life around, left the gang life and all the people that did not propel her forward. She earned her GED, and last month she graduated with honors earning her certification as a Phlebotomist and registered Medical Assistant.
We sit down and talk about where and what she came from, the turning point in her life, and the new world she lives in now and the challenges she faces each day that come from within.
This is a raw and poignant interview with a woman that has done what so few have and tells the story about what it took to do what she has done.
